しかもmintって、ミント以外の別の意味があるんです☆ それは to be minted = to be rich というもの。 I want to be minted !!!!

We went to Ishite temple in Matsuyama last weekend. It`s an interesting temple because it has a long tunnel with buddha statues inside and there is a rock at the end of the tunnel. According to legend the temples name was changed to Ishite-ji or 'stone-hand temple' after the a lord`s son`s tightly-clenched hand was opened by a priest from the Annoyō-ji to reveal a stone inscribed 'Emon Saburō is reborn. I can`t imagine that it was the same stone as the one at the end of the tunnel. If the child had held that stone in it`s hand, it certainly would have made clapping noisy. Joining the hello song at the start of my children`s lessons would`ve been deafening!! It is one of the 88 temple`s of shikoku and it`s worth a visit.
案内して頂いたベテラン登山者の生徒様本当にありがとうございましたm(_ _)m Yoko and I went to various places for our Golden Week break, but the best thing for has to be visiting the Naoshima James Bond museum. James Bond is massive in England. There are seasons where each week a James Bond film is shown. My brother and I would settle down with a Belgian bun, some Bombay mix and a milkshake each week to watch the next one. We even sat through the George Lazenby ones and everybody knows how awful they were. You can imagine my joy then in discovering that there is a James Bond museum on Naoshima Island. Its a small museum but it has one of those pictures with the head cut out some you can pretend to be the character, so for 1 minute I became James Bond. If anyone from the James Bond casting agency is reading this, consider this my audition. I am available so filming most Sundays and Mondays and I already own my own suit. Let`s make a movie!! Belgian bun(粉砂糖のアイシングがのった甘い菓子パン)と、Bombay mix(インドのスパイシーなスナック)そしてミルクシェイクと一緒に楽しんで毎回いつも兄と座って観てたなぁ。
Youko has been very busy taking care of her dog of late so I thought I would write a blog entry in her absence. On the weekend we spend some time driving around Saijyo. We had an intended destination but due to some map trouble we only really arrived an hour later than we had planned and actually the event we arrived at wasn`t really that interesting. There were lots of people lining up for curry. Curry is the one food even I can cook!! Luckily we had called a student who lives nearby if he wanted to join us and, as it happens, he was already involved in festivities of his own, that is to say the flower temple festival. I think the name of this flower is boutan. There were a couple of different varieties of the flower on show at the event, all of them bright and colourful. Inside the temple grounds, it was a bit like walking through a beautiful version of the Halloween horror house maze that Youko and I made from cardboard boxes last year. There were lovely little paths through the flowers and I think we must have taken a wrong turning in the maze because when we exited the maze we had arrived in a graveyard.
Just after New Year Yoko and I decided it was about time to have a little excursion and see the southern, as yet unexplored sights of Ehime. I had read that Uwajima was famous for its seafood and being as Yoko loves seafood it would be a nice place for a days visit. There was a kind of indoor market at the port and there were various different products available from fishy stuff to chocolatey things. My eyes were instantly drawn to the chocolates and I bought some rum and raisin chocolates for myself. Yoko found some peculiar crab snacks which she bought for herself. They`re small and crunchy and smell really bad but somehow Yoko enjoys eating them. Personally I don`t understand why people eat anything from the sea. Crabs are like underwater versions of spiders, yet noone eats spiders. Shrimp are like underwater grasshoppers. Actually I have seen grasshoppers in some shops but I think they`re only eaten as a dare. Anyway we also checked out Uwajima castle. 。。 In fact we checked out two castles on our trip. This is Ozu castle. Of the two, I think I preferred Ozu castle. It has recently been reconstructed from original plans and photos and using the same techniques as the original. It also looks really cool because its black. It does have quite a steep slope leading up to it though, and this took Yoko and I a little by suprise. I was wearing some old shoes that were falling apart. Yoko was wearing some boots with the heel missing. I couldnt count the number of times Yoko slipped over walking up and down the path to the castle. If I hadn`t caught her every time I`m pretty sure she would have rolled all the way down again and have to start climbing from the bottom. We didn`t have so much time in Ozu because we planned to fit Ozu and Uchiko into the same day so we missed out on the old street in Ozu. We figured that there was an old street in Uchiko too so we could enjoy that one instead. My main reason for visiting temples in winter is to track down a free cup of amazake. It`s becoming harder and harder to do in the current economical climate, but I was able to get my hands on a cup for 100 yen at Uwajima. My hair in this particular picture looks like a wig but it is real. Most of the shops were closed in Uchiko so we treated it like a sample of what Uchiko could be like. It was a beautiful and tranquil little town and we both decided we should head back that way again sometime in the near future. They have a theatre which was also closed when we visited but as I recall it was over a hundred years old and it houses puppet shows and preformances. They also had a somewhat tired looking buddha at the far temple. I guess its not easy being a god after all. That was our trip to Ozu, Uwajima and Uchiko. I`m sure we`ll be back!!
